Below are some typical tank lid layouts. These are not the only ones out there, but they are the most typical ones we run into when we have to locate and dig lids. One way to locate lids is to find the edge of the tank closest to the house (probably the inlet side). A lid should be just on the inside edge of the tank. Lid sizes vary, but the large lids are the ones used for pumping. Usually there is at least one large lid, but we have seen tanks with only small lids. On the 1250 gallon tanks, the small trapezoid lids are inspection lids. To do a health district inspection, these lids must also be dug out.
There is no greater joy than finding a handle or the edge of a lid, and the joy only increases the deeper you dig!
The pumpers of Big Jon Septic Services have had much joy in digging tank lids, therefore we have given a discount for customers who want to share in the joy. Please check the Rates page "You Dig" rate and you too can share in the joy. Remember to smile as you dig, and have fun. If you have kids, it can also be a great bonding experience.
