ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
We at Big Jon Septic Services have finally had enough! Over the past years, and unbelievably almost every week, we come across pumpings and/or inspections of septic systems that have been performed improperly or incompletely. We feel that it is our duty to let you, the consumer know what to watch out for when getting your system pumped or inspected. The following are some of the most blatant and egregious mistakes (purposely made or inadvertantly made) that we come across.
- Only one chamber of a two chamber septic tank pumped or inspected
- The pump chamber being pumped instead of the septic tank
- "Supposedly" pumping or inspecting a septic system, but no sign of digging or pumping (this is especially prevalent at a real estate sale or where the property is vacant and no one is around when the work is performed)
- Telling people that certain non-essentials are necessary for a county inspection, i.e. risers must be installed on tanks to pass inspection (this is particuarly annoying when senior citizens are taken advantage of)
- Telling people that some solids or sludge must be left in the septic tank in order for it to re-start. QUESTION--when the septic tank was brand new what started it working then? ANSWER--Nothing, it starts itself with use.
- Get in--Get out quick method of septic pumping. Not really taking the time to thoroughly do the job because "time is money"
A word of advice--always be present when your septic system is inspected or pumped. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Watch the work that is being done and the quality of work. Remember that your septic system may not be a system that you want to know alot about or want to be around, but it is the one system that you should pay a lot of attention to. If it fails, it is an immediate emergency and it must be dealt with.
We at Big Jon Septic Services promise you the very best service and the highest quality service you can get. Please feel free to call us anytime if you have questions or if we can help you in any way.
